The Knoxville (TN) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was selected by The Links, Incorporated to participate in Black K.A.R.E., an initiative funded by Baxter Healthcare Corporation Renal Business. The initiative is dedicated to bringing awareness by providing and education to address chronic kidney disease (CKD) among Black Americans, given the disproportionate number affected by the disease. About chronic kidney disease (CKD)

Black Americans account for 13% of the U.S. population but account for 35% of the 37 million adults diagnosed with CKD.

The Chapter will host a community health fair on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Change Center Knoxville, 203 Harriet Tubman Street, Knoxville, Tennessee 37915. Medical and healthcare professionals will discuss chronic kidney disease, how it affects the body, and what steps can be taken to slow its progression. There will be free screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, kidney disease, carotid ultrasound, lung function test, and more. This event is free and open to the public. Registration will be at the door on the day of the event. #blackkare, #weareblackkare.
